About this stay

Arriving at Araaik Beach Village involves a domestic flight to Hoarafushi, followed by a short speedboat transfer, setting the tone for a tranquil island escape in the northern Haa Alifu Atoll. The village is designed around its private beach, offering guests direct access to the sand and the clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

Villas here are set right on the beach, each featuring a private balcony where you can enjoy sea or garden views. Inside, air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and streaming services ensure comfort after a day of exploration. The house reef is easily accessible for snorkeling, revealing vibrant marine life just steps from the shore.

The ambiance is relaxed and family-friendly, with a restaurant catering to various dietary needs, including halal, vegetarian, and vegan options, serving Indian, Italian, Thai, and local dishes. Beyond the beach, guests can join yoga classes, walking tours, or unwind in spa and wellness treatments.

Our take

This guesthouse suits travelers seeking a genuine Maldivian experience on an inhabited island, with the convenience of beachfront accommodation and a house reef. It's ideal for families and couples who appreciate diverse dining options and activities like diving and snorkeling. Those looking for an adults-only, ultra-luxury resort experience on a private island might find it less secluded, but its local charm and accessibility to the community are distinct advantages.

  • Take advantage of the house reef for snorkeling; it's easily accessible and full of marine life.
  • Explore the diverse menu at the family-friendly restaurant, especially the local Maldivian dishes.
  • Consider joining a walking tour to experience the local culture of Hoarafushi island.

Why we love it

  • House reef accessible for snorkeling
  • Family-friendly restaurant with diverse cuisines
  • Villas with private balconies and sea views
Why guests love it

We chose Araaik Beach Village mainly because it was one of the few guesthouses in Haa Alifu Atoll with direct house reef access, and it meant our kids could snorkel steps from the villa rather than needing a boat every time. The domestic flight plus speedboat transfer is longer than reaching a central-atoll resort, but the island felt far less crowded once we arrived. It is a simple guesthouse, not a resort, so anyone wanting a big pool or kids' club should look elsewhere.
