Taj Exotica felt calmer than the bigger resorts we'd stayed at before, which suited us after a hectic year: our sundeck looked straight over the lagoon, and with only two restaurants on site we never had the decision fatigue of choosing where to eat. The kids used the house reef every morning while I finally sat still at the infinity pool for more than ten minutes. It's a smaller island than some neighbours in South Malé Atoll, and that scale is exactly what made it feel restful.
