Why we love it
- Overwater villas with direct lagoon access
- Located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
- Vibrant house reef for snorkeling and diving
- Luxurious private island tranquility
Why guests love itWe flew in by seaplane and our teenager, who gets restless on longer flights, actually asked to sit by the window for the whole thirty minutes. With 113 villas and suites, Vakkaru never felt as crowded as that number suggests, we mostly saw other guests at the dive centre or on the house reef rather than underfoot everywhere. The earthy, Maldivian-inspired design of our overwater villa felt different from the glossier resorts we'd seen photos of before booking, in a way we ended up preferring.
